Harrison-Morton Middle School
Welcome Back!

To our Families and Friends of Harrison-Morton Middle School:
We want to first take this time to express our hopes that you and your family are safe, and were able to enjoy the summer the best you could under these very different circumstances.  Although this is not the way we envisioned the beginning of any academic  year, we welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. We want you to reassure you that although we faced  some very trying challenges last year, it was a great learning experience for us all. We will continue to focus on overcoming  any additional challenges that present themselves this year because the Harrison-Morton family doesn’t run away from challenges, we face and overcome them!
We also would like to welcome you to Allentown School District’s Virtual Campus. In this new learning platform, your child will have unlimited opportunities to learn and engage through direct, interactive, on-line instruction with all of their teachers.  Your child will have the opportunity to participate in interscholastic activities and receive support and services necessary for their development. Breakfast and lunch will also be served daily.
As we all navigate this  “new normal” in education, remember that there  is no blueprint or handbook to follow , and that we are working hard to provide the changes needed,  in order for your child to rise to the challenges they may encounter.  Please check the school website and messenger platforms such as Class Dojo and Google Classroom regularly, as these methods will be the most efficient way to communicate  the most current information. With your continued patience, flexibility, support, and understanding, we will strive for your child’s success. As part of our shared responsibility, we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that s/he:
1. Attends their scheduled virtual classes with their teachers at their scheduled time, ready for the day’s learning experiences.
2. Completes all assignments on time.
3. Consistently communicates with their teachers.
4. Shares school experiences with you so you are aware of his/her progress.
5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.
6. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school.

If you have not already done so, please contact the school and update your contact information, including an email address through which you can be reached.

Although the immediate future continues to be uncertain, please know that the  faculty and staff of Harrison-Morton are committed to ensuring that your child feels connected, is challenged by new learning experiences, and knows that our school community is here to support them along the way.  Our new “normal” is going to be anything but normal. It will be dynamic, unusual, unpredictable, and at times even uncomfortable. Nevertheless, we are Harrison-Morton STRONG! We will collaborate and  adapt  as needed to ensure student learning is just as personalized, rigorous, and engaging virtually, as it was inside of our walls! We are a team! School….. Community….. Parents! We will embrace this experience, rise to the occasion and highlight the many successes that will be accomplished!  And we will be successful together, “WALKING THE MORTON WAY”!
We look forward to seeing all students logged on to your upcoming Zoom and Google Classrooms, starting September 8th at 8:00 AM!!!
In Eager Anticipation,
