Harrison-Morton's Number One Rule is RESPECT. Most conflicts can be avoided by respecting yourself and others. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Conflict Resolution Strategies:
  • Get the Facts-Many conflicts in middle school are a communication misunderstanding. Always find out the facts first before you jump to conclusion.
  • Use Caring Communication- "I Messages" are a great way to express how YOU feel. Remember communication is not always done with your words. - Make sure your eye contact and body language are sending a positive message.- Think about it before you say it...
  • Finding a Compromise-Find a way to respect each other’s differences by brainstorming solutions together. If you can't come up with a win-win solution, meet each other half way!
  • Apologize-Saying "I'm sorry" is a way of accepting responsibility for your actions.

TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIAL SKILLS:   Whether it is texting, email, Facebook, MySpace, cell phones or something else... If you can't say it to their face, don't write it or say it on the phone!  If you are worried someone is mad at you... talk to them privately, not on a 3-way call or online.  

BULLYING: WHAT ABOUT BULLIES: Students will be participating in class discussion once a cycle on the theme of bullying prevention among other subtle changes in the day to day environment.
